Hi! I'm Jessica, I get to write about interior design for Arcadian Lighting, an awesome website for affordable lighting fixtures. I'm delighted to be a guest here at Coral Cafe because I'm going to be sharing a collection of modern living rooms inspired by the beauty of the coast. Fresh, bright colors, plenty of sunshine and sparkling glass accents, coastal interiors are nothing short of inviting. I hope you enjoy!

The cool, casual and rustic atmosphere in this living room is inspired by Scandinavian design. The wood burning stove is a fun authentic feature.

The vibrant yellow in this living room inspires wonderful memories days spent at the beach. The coral designed side table is a clever nod to the ocean theme without being too literal.

Very pale yellows and blues give this living room a gentle, soothing atmosphere. The coral print on the arm chairs is a charming accent. I love the wall sconce above the fireplace, as well.

This lovely, feminine living room draws on the Danish coast for inspiration. The simple furnishings, cozy blankets and pillows have icy dark blue and grey colors, with splashes of pink. A uniquely modern space.

The bold red and blue colors and the variety of patterns in this living room have a very bohemian feel to them. Blue and white is instantly synonymous with the sea, as is the Grecian key pattern on the rug.

I love the subtle nautical feel of this living room. Bright red accents and blue and white stripes draw on sailor's uniforms and the black and white print of a sailing ship is gorgeous. The oversized floor lamp is a very modern touch.

Deep, dark shades of blue and coral patterns look beautiful against the all-white walls. The wicker furniture and the shades have a very casual feel that is perfect for this room.

I was so thrilled when my dress from Sugarlips (fashion brand based in downtown L.A.) arrived this weekend! They so graciously let me model one of their amazing dresses from their fabulous collection.

It wasn't hard for me to spot the Stop and Stare dress and think twice about putting this

wonderfully striped red, black and white number on!

I paired it with my nude pumps, coral neon Bfrend bracelet and neon yellow dangled earrings and bangle. Of course my Tory clutch was the perfect accessory to pull all of the colors together nicely.

Looking forward to working more with Sugarlips and perusing their amazing site full of fun fashion!

Good morning sweet friends! Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Mine was pretty laid back and COLD!

Winter decided to turn its frigid cheek in NC this weekend.

I am participating in Anna's The True Beauty Files link-up today! I loved the idea that Anna came up with to show the style and fashion of a modest woman. We all get so caught up in the glamour and glitz of hollywood fashion and sometimes forget to stay true to who we are and how God has created women to represent purity, modesty and conservative dress. I think there are so many ways to portray beauty in a woman who likes to dress for fun and as a representation and unique style of oneself, with a void of cleavage or a lot of leg to be shown.

I admit to not always having dressed the way I think God would want me to, but am so fortunate for friends like Anna, who has shown me, as well as other women, that you can look beautiful and still be pleasing to God when styled modestly, no matter what size, height or color you are.

Here is my first take on an outfit with all of this in mind.

Forgive the camera quality. I am not an owner of a high-tech camera, nor am I a model by any means. Haha I had to just let loose and have fun with this little shoot, as I am quite nervous to pose by myself. I'm hoping to become more confident in taking these pics and hope I give you the courage to express yourself and join with us in Monday's True Beauty Files!

I know, I know...it just turned February and we're seeing spring outfits! I don't mind it one bit. I happen to love spring (just as much as the next person!) If you've got the fever, be sure to

Pairing a neon, pastel and a dark shade make for a great, balanced outfit if you ask me! Hence, this little number. Hope this color combo can be of some inspiration for your wardrobe switch in the next month or two, depending on your location. It was in the 60's today here in NC!

AIGA Buzz: Letterpress Fest

There is an event coming up for the week of February 13-16 and I am beyond excited as AIGA Charlotte is hosting a full fledged Letterpress Fest that is loaded with information, workshops, nationally regarded speakers and even The Movable Type Truck run by Kyle Durrie!

I'll fill you in on more details later, but at our design meeting this morning we got to hear two speakers from Crayton-Heritage Letterpress who do letterpress for invitations, announcements, business cards and much, much more!

As a lover of paper and one that is extremely captivated by the look and feel of letterpress, I was highly intrigued and even more pumped for the festivities to start up in the coming weeks!

They even print for my invitation stylist goddess, Ceci Johnson!!

There is just a plethora of designs and pressings they can do, whether it be ink or even metallic foiling!

Look at the professional and snazzy information packet Crayton-Heritage gives those who are interested in their services! Of course I snagged one!

She was able to use the knowledge of the software to create her own look for her blog that represents her and Southern Inspired best! Although she gives me a lot of credit for the design, I can tell you that the colors, logo and layout were ALL HER ideas!!

Kitchens to admire...

I went to Ikea with some friends over the weekend to help them pick out furniture

and the highlight of this visit, to me, were the kitchens.

While browsing the internet to find more inspirational kitchens, I came across some with fun wallpaper! It definitely gave the kitchen added interest and had me imagining what it would be like to plaster someones kitchen with suzani or floral wallpaper.

I really like the look of a clean, white kitchen with industrial lighting, paper lanterns or wicker shades. Fun prints can also be added for extra pizazz, whether that be in rugs, pillows or wallpaper.

I appreciate a good mix of woods, metals, marble and glass when envisioning the perfect kitchen.

It's definitely all about the details in these kitchens and in my palettes.

Rue Spotlight: Danielle Moss

I just couldn't get over the home feature from the newest issue of Rue! My amazingly talented blogger friend, Danielle, took the lucky and very well-deserved spotlight in this issue! Her Chicago apartment is filled with a light and airy ambiance that has you itching to recreate a similar space.

The pops of gold, gray and pink add so much feminine flair throughout the home. Danielle even painted that spotted gold and silver canvas that leans above the wall in her living room!

The also, talented and gorgeous Alaina and Liz helped in styling this charming place of abode and even Danielle's very own wardrobe. I must say they did more than a fantastic job!

How can you not love that sweet pup, Buddy, relaxing in his momma's beautiful home?!

The arrangement of the wall gallery and the desk setup is perfect!

It makes me want to start fresh with my own desk at home.

What a perfect spot to work at everyday!

I couldn't showcase Danielle's home without adding a photo of this adorable metal storage case that hangs in her kitchen! How brilliant! I would never think to display such kitchen accessories!! Love!

In the Spotlight

I just have to put the spotlight on one gorgeous lady who has done incredible work throughout the years, playing charismatic, life wrenching and sometimes daunting roles. I saw her on the Golden Globes last night for a split second and was blown away by her sense of beauty and glow she had about her. Always a gorgeous woman, but last night she had a sense of class, chicness and, my friend put it perfectly last night calling her "chic but demure."

I watched her grow up on Dawson's Creek back in the day and I am overwhelmed at how far she has risen from an aspiring actress!

I've never seen a more adoring pixi cut!

Almost reminds me of a young Julie Andrews, which also happens to be one of my favorite actresses!

If you've been keeping up with the past couple weeks of posts, you might suggest I have a crush on COLOR in general! I've always been a lover of color, but it usually heightens in the spring and summer months. This year it has crept on me a little early. January is the month for color!

I'm continuing today with the same trend of pastels and brights, but in the realm of decor.

I love the juxtaposition of a pastel wall surrounded by bright colored furniture and accessories.

It's a beautiful balance of lights and brights and extremely refreshing to the eyes to see such a contrast in colors. Sometimes the look is very subtle, while other times it strikes such a distinction between the shades!

Holiday Update

The holidays were extremely special this year! I'm a little late on sharing

tidbits from my holiday, so here are some snaps that show you what I was

up to! My best friend who moved to NYC came home, the most anticipated arrival

of my sister and brosef-in-law finally made its way here, and my precious cousins

made it to MaMaw's house for the traditional Christmas Eve showdown!

Of course, many more photos were taken so I will be sure to share more

memories throughout the year that mean so much to me ;)

One of my closest friends made it in just in time to ring in the New Year!

We love getting all dolled up and sharing laughs, stories and food together!

Lastly, the highlight of my holidays:

My life is not complete without my cousins! We all grew up around the same area, same age, same upbringing. Needless to say, we're inseparable and are brothers and sisters for life!

So special to add a couple more throughout the years too, as some find their soul mates.

(One cuzzy is missing, as he was in OK, but he's always there in spirit and truly missed ;)

I'll definitely have to show you my wonderful family on the other side soon!! They're equally amazing and so close in my heart! Time to start snapping more memories!!

Iowa has a special place in my heart

It is so great to be back to the Café!! I went to see some of my very closest friends in Iowa last week and it was just what I've been needing!! These ladies are truly the sweetest, caring and silliest sisters ever!

I am so bonded with these two and feel so at home when I'm with them.

I'm so honored to be a bridesmaid in Erienne's wedding this coming May and I was so ecstatic I could make the trip out to see her before all of the festivities begin. Although, we sure had a pretty festive time this go round!

If there ever was a trio that loved 80's movies so hard core, you'd have to rank us at the top!

Let's just say the last visit we watched Mannequin 1 & 2 and the super 80's movie, Teen Witch!

(It's ok if you've never heard them before...but OH BOY you should give them a watch!)

This year we knocked out FIVE 80's classics in just a couple short days.

Then we had to re-watch Bridesmaids and all of its glorious humor!

Of course it wouldn't be a perfect trip without making it to the real live theatre!

Erienne and I used to go to the movies almost every other day when she lived in NC!

I'd skip class to fill up on popcorn and candy, then grab a comfy seat at the local movie theatre with my fave girl ;) This year we watched the AMAZING Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn! It was a perfect time to see it because the hyped crowds had already come and gone by then. I loved it so much, I'm ready to see it a second time!

This trip, like all the rest in Iowa, leaves you feeling nothing short of stuffed!

Us three sure like to eat good meals and there are so many fantastic restaurants to choose from in the city.

You can also add chocolate covered gummy bears and popcorn into that diet of ours.

(YES! CHOCOLATE COVERED GUMMY BEARS are my NEW FAVE!)

I can't say thanks enough to my twinsie, Erienne and her lovely sis, Emily, for making this another incredible flight out of reality! Actually, it IS OUR reality and these memories we keep making together will forever be embedded in my heart!!

Thank goodness it will only be months until I see you next! and then another month after that!

I am seriously so excited to be a guest over here at Coral Cafe. Drew has impeccable taste and I was kind of intimidated to be a guest, but she also happens to be one of the sweetest bloggers I have met in the blogosphere, so how could I say no?? ;)

I wanted to share with you all one of my favorite color trends hitting the fashion world that I am DYING to try this season. Crimson Orange and Endive. I simply would have never thought to combine these colors, but I took a glance at a few of these photos to realize they were made to turn dreary winter days upside down. Even if the color pops are subtle like a lip or nail color, it just seems to work magically as if they were always meant to be. What do you think? Should I give it a go? I am always looking for inspiration from ladies that have a passion for graphic design. I found one that meets every expectation I have for a mega graphic star! She's here to share some key winter must-haves today and it's time I let her take it away!

Hello Coral Cafe-inators, I'm Erika from small shop! So happy that Drew asked me to fill in whilst she is enjoying some time off with her family. I'm guessing I'm a new introduction to most of you, so let me first tell you I am a graphic designer (but I fancifully refer to myself as a "brand stylist") and therefore I tend to like fancy, pretty things....which are often out of my budget. But I do believe in quality, especially in the winter months, when good ingredients really do count for something! So here is my "Winter Checklist" that I like to replenish with a few new items every winter:

*carry-all black tote
We all need one to lug around our sweaters and gifts while shopping, right? I'll be putting one on my Christmas list this year, and this number by Cynthia Vincent is practical, sizeable and stylish.

*cashmere, cashmere, cashmere
Yes I need lots of cashmere in my life come winter, and this chunky James Perse piece is perfection. (Okay, so it doesn't get THAT cold here in So. Cal. but having that extra warmth is quite nice -- I'm a Hawaii girl, cut me some slack!). And don't forget to take care of your cashmere, so you can keep your pieces for years!

*dark nail lacquer
Vampy, sexy, and goes so well with all those darker hues of winter. I'm itching to try Butter London's La Moss...oh la la!

*best lip balm (ever)
La Mer is a splurge for sure, but it will last you all winter, and well into spring. It's soft, supple and just what the doctor ordered for our poor puckers this season.

*a nice hand soap
Who wants to catch a nasty winter cold when there is so much shopping and partying to be had? Invest in a nice line like Molton Brown so that your hands don't get as dry as they could be with less expensive (read: watery) brands. Plus it smells good too.

*signature scarf
Whatever your signature scarf is, wear it with pride. I received a Burberry keeper as a Christmas gift a few years back, and of course I don it all the time! Really the best accessory.

*day or night boots
Tall brown boots like these DVF's are just fine for our light winters out here - just enough to get me off the ground when wet, and covers up enough leg to keep me warm. Plus, goes with everything!

*a luxurious lotion
I have tried to budget-buy the body lotion. It just doesn't work. Besides, think of it this way: you don't have to use pricey perfume when you put a fragrant cream on like the new Diptyque line -- double-duty!

*lots of jeans!
I am obsessed with Mother "The Looker" jeans. Obsessed! I have them in three washes, and honestly, I would buy more if they were cheaper. They're heavier than "jeggings" (yuck!) but stretchy like yoga pants. Hey, I've had a kid and these still don't give me muffin top. I'm just sayin'...great investment.

So there you have it! Hopefully I've introduced a few of you to some new faves -- I know it can be scary to spend a ton of $$ on an unfamiliar product!

When we moved from Toronto at the beginning of the year, bringing our furniture was not an option so when we got to the island we thought that buying just the essentials for a living period of 18 months was the right move. Thanks to a couple of small decor items I was able to bring in I'm quite happy how my bedroom turned out, hope you like it!

Soft and Luxurious

Come and relax in this platinum tufted sleigh bed wrapped in a soft quilted comforter and sheets.

The pattern of the wallpaper adds a dimension of interest and sophistication, leaving the space so invigorating. The placement of the tufted bench is also quite appealing.

The pink peekaboo bed is just beyond charming! I love the feeling of being slightly enclosed and this seems to do the trick! I also love the variations of pinks used throughout the room, presenting harmony and elegance. Speaking of elegance, those leafy chandeliers definitely complete the look! How clever to add two in different heights! Of course, I can't move on without mentioning the door in the back with the beautiful molding and knob in the center! Love this! I've seen it on front doors before but placing it inside just makes more sense.

Lastly, this lavender room leaves such a pleasing effect. The arrangement is quite similar to the first room, yet we have a striking chandelier hanging above the bed and an elongated, leaf-patterned mirror on the night side table. Window treatments, hung to the edges of the ceiling, always add more height and appear just stunning to me. Can't forget the cozy, white cowhide on the side of the bed and how it certainly makes the space appear larger.

Time to change the wardrobes

It all of a sudden just got really, really chilly so I was forced to finally make the swap from summer clothes to fall & winter clothes! For me it's a whole process...I clean, organize, give away and throw away. When switching your wardrobes it's important to show your most wearable items in the front or most easiest access in your closet. I learned this tip from my sis and it works wonders!

I love winter snow boots and own a bundle of bedroom slippers to keep the footsies warm.

I've also added leg warmers and long socks to cover up the legs when wearing skirts and dresses.

I certainly can't resist the cuteness factor of them, either!

If you know me personally, you know that I adore my comfies!! Usually it's scrunched up sweatpants or those PJ pants that look like long johns. I looove long, slouchy shirts when lounging around. They're just so loose and cozy! I must admit, I can sometimes be caught in public wearing my comfies, while running errands (or going to a matinée). I embarrass some while bumming it, but I giggle and do it anyway ;)

I can NOT resist the adorable scarves, gloves and toboggans that show up in winter! I've collected more gloves than I need and have a scarf to match practically every outfit if I wanted it to. Of course, earmuffs are extremely important for mountain weather. It's a good thing all of these items that keep us warm are extremely adorable!

Last, but absolutely not least, layers. When a long sleeved shirt is not enough, you must add a sweater and coat to keep out the chill. I really like the look of layers, whether it be cardigans and sweaters over flannel shirts or leg warmers over top leggings and boots. However you layer it, be sure to keep warm!

To come up with todays outfit, I dreamed of going on a holiday vacation somewhere tropical! What better way to spend a unique Christmas. I spent last years Christmas in West Palm Beach, FL and I must say it was an interesting switch, opposed to the chilly and snow boot weather in the Carolinas. Florida was decorated with twinkling palm trees and meals consisted of snow crab and oysters! I'll never forget my wonderland adventure down in the sunny state!

Plus, how could I give up the coral tunic dress in the shape of what seems to look like a Christmas tree!

The green and navy shift dress was equally irresistable!!

I was ecstatic when I won the Jewelmint, "Astoria" necklace from Luella & June! As most of you know, Jewelmint is a jewelry line started by Kate Bosworth and Cher Coulter. They have some great pieces to choose from and can be seen on such celebrities as Rachel Bilson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller and Kate Bosworth herself, wearing the "Astoria" above. Each piece even comes in a precious minty box, with a lovely note by Kate and Cher.

I love sporting this chunky, gold-plated necklace, inspired by the deluxe Waldorf-Astoria hotel.

I decided to pair it with a denim shirt and coral cardigan to make sure it stood out as a statement piece!!

I think the leopard print heels and belt add a certain contrast that matches my style, as of lately.

Here is the final version of my peacock costume. It was so fun to dress up and be a Radiant Peacock.

We're celebrating our Halloween costume on Friday's Fancies today and I am showcasing the Radiant Peacock Costume! I handmade a peacock costume last year and plan on wearing it again this year since I live in a different area code now. I'm sprucing it up more and wearing a dress instead of a tutu that I wore last year. I'm all into wearing wigs for Halloween so I will be sporting my blue, bob cut wig again.

Can't wait to see how everyone else is dressing up!

So the orange theme continues! I love all shades of orange: burnt orange, rust orange, camel and amber.

I think of pumpkin pie, cider and of course candy corn during these autumn months. It's funny how fashion sparks an image of food in my head. I should have just dedicated this post to "fashion foodies!"

When accessorizing with orange, chocolate brown and black compliment this hue very well.

Try adding amber and camel to the mix and you will be amazed at how orange becomes such a staple color in your fall wardrobe!!

So many strong and courageous women have battled and conquered this traumatic disease. My heart goes out to all of the women who have struggled, or knew of someone dear to their heart who has had to deal with such a painful condition.

Here's to continuing more education, awareness and empowerment for women all around the globe!

After searching for October inspired rooms, I've become very intrigued with the black and orange hues. I wouldn't necessarily say they would be categorized as "Halloween" rooms because they definitely have a charm that could last throughout the autumn months. The contrast of rich orange against black definitely makes a theatrical impact in a room.

My favorite room of all is this glitzy, dramatic living room with an extravagant chandelier, fun pillows, leopard accessories and an orange ceramic side table.

It's Friday's Fanices time!! Today we're dreaming up our fall color palette, taken

from nature, and turning it into a fitting outfit.

I think of coats, ponchos and blazers throughout the season and love to incorporate colors into my accessories while keeping the outfit neutral. I'm a sucker for greens, oranges and dark yellows during fall. Maybe it's the changing of leaves that gets me reeling in these crisp, autumn hues.
